Winchester Cathedral

This drawing is from the exterior of Winchester Cathedral, done in an A5 sketchbook, my favourite size, discrete, like having a studio in your pocket. The two drawings of the vessels were also done in an A5 sketcbook, the two ink drawings are on A1 sheets taped together with making tape.

Drawing with twigs and leaves on the end of a bamboo cane

Two drawings I did as part of one of our continuing professional development days for teachers. A 'perk' at work is joining in! We were tasked with drawing from our environment using black ink or black paint, and a bamboo cane with a twig or leaf taped onto the end. I found inpiration under the massive yew hedges, darks and lights, line againts form. After the drawing exercize we had to translate our drawings into clay, but thats another story.

A drawing every day

..is both my pleasure, and ambition. But you'll have to bear with me while I get the hang of blogging. At the moment I'm just working out how to upload and post images, and get the text right. So i'm not quite drawing every day yet. Here to begin with are two drawings I did at the British Museum of an amphora in the Chinese Galleries. A modest size, black and quite singular. It stood out quietly.
